Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is a Danish actor from Denmark. He has acted as Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock) in the third series of Sherlock, as well as Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He was awarded the Reumert Prize of Honour in the year 2011. At 27 years old He was enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from that school in 1995. Apart from his role in the drama series released globally as The Killing the actor was also featured in two other internationally acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He was the President of Russia in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock. In the year 2018, he took home an International Emmy Award for his part in the lead character on the Danish TV drama Herrensveje. It aired in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019.
