Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the United States and is a Greek-American writer, syndicated writer of columns and businesswoman. She is a founder of The Huffington Post and the chief executive officer of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, television personality, philanthropist as well as the owner and publisher of The Huffington Post. She moved to Greece to England at the age of 16 and obtained a MA from Cambridge University in Economics. At 21 she became president of the renowned debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student to do so. When she graduated, she made her name as a conservative syndicated columnist as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched a voice-based website that gave critical opinions on the political scenario. Her fame helped to attract several well-known contributors for posting their thoughts on news political, culture and politics. Arianna's popularity was first noticed in 2003 when she declared herself an independent candidate for the California recall vote in order to replace then-Governor Davis. In addition, she was also the leader of a Detroit initiative to promote fuel-efficient automobiles. Forbes listed her as one of the "most powerful female" in media with her ranking at the 12th spot. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 most influential media people in 2009. In 2011 AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made the president of that media group which included many existing AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Though she shared a close connection to her mother and father and father, it was their relationship that shaped her. She displayed leadership qualities throughout her childhood. At the age of 16, she moved from America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In her college years, she belonged to Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she was elected the first woman president, and also the only president from outside the country. In 1972 she received an honorary degree in Economics. She became a writer, a critic television host, and a columnist after her graduation. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
