Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most rare of all pop stars: an artist who could successfully cross the divide between pop and country music, conquering the globe. Swift is shedding her roots in the country as if she was shedding skins for second purposes and has proven herself to be one of the smartest pop singer/songwriter within her generation. Swift is able to harness the current zeitgeist and turn it into her own. These skills were evident on her earliest hits especially the neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album, 2008's Fearless featured a singer-songwriter figuring out who she was and in the process, finding an audience of mass. Fearless became a worldwide hit but not only in North America (where it received with six platinum awards for Top Ten Hits Love Story as well as "You Belong with Me") however, in Canada, Australia, the U.K. as well as other nations. Swift was able to consolidate her success by releasing Speak Now almost two year later. Swift's popularity grew throughout her three subsequent albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift had now established herself in an industry she felt was hers to be. The popularity of her music grew after she altered her plan with 2020's pared-down siblings the folk singer (and Evermore) and stayed atop of the pop world.
