Fawn Mckay
Fawn MCK Brodie was born 15th September 1915 at Ogden Utah. Born into the Mormon Church's very first family, Fawn McKay directed her ingenious literary talents and remarkable researching skills in the creation of the brilliant psycho-historical biography of Joseph Smith, published in 1945, entitled No Man is able to know My History. This title comes from a 1844 funeral sermon by The Church of Latter-Day Saints' founder. Nobody knows my past. There is no way for me to tell you. Fawn has written the 29-year-old Fawn. Since then there have been at least three writers who have stood up to this challenge. Some have rebuked him, while others have glorified. Few have made the diagnosis. Not that the documents are missing, it's that they are so contradictory. The task is to sort out personal testimony from third party inconsistencies and integrating Mormon-related narratives into a mosaic of credible historical facts. It is both interesting as well as eye-opening. Fawn Brodie's life as a professional was devoted to this aim. Thaddeus S. Stevens is immortalized in her writing and by the results of her studies. The Devil drives (1959). The Story of Sir Richard Burton (1967) Thomas Jefferson. The intimate Histories (1974) The Life of Sir Richard Burton (1974) and Richard Nixon.
